The most thin LCD-panel in the world is created

The South Korean manufacturer LG Display has informed of 2,6 mm on successful working out of the television LCD-panel by thickness. The given panel is most thin of ever created to any of manufacturers, transfers words of official representatives of the company edition DigiTimes.

Working out became possible thanks to application of advanced achievements LG Display in the market of systems of display of the information. As illumination in the new panel light-emitting diodes which settle down on its perumetre are used – in the majority of modern TVs as panel illumination lamps which considerably increase dimensions are used. The panel diagonal makes 42 inches, the physical permission – 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD); it supports frequency of updating of 120 Hz and weighs only 4 kgs that does its ideal for placing on walls.

About, whether the new model will be started in mass production and when, the company does not inform. In May, 2009 LG Display has presented 42 and 47-inch LCD-panels in the thickness of 5,9 mm which at that point in time also became the most thin in the world, however mass producton of these panels also is not started yet. The thickness of the most thin panel started in mass production by company LG, makes 11,9 mm.

World manufacturers of LCD-panels and TVs throughout several years fight for the right to nname the products the most thin in the world. LG Display is one of leading manufacturers of panels in the world which nearest competitor is Samsung. For last month LG has starte mass production of the first-ever 23-inch LCD-panel supporting Full HD and the three-dimensional image. Earlier this year the company declared intention to start till the end of 2009 to sales of the first-ever OLED-TV with a diagonal of the screen of 15 inches.
