Samsung has thought up how to make LCD more cheaply

As is known, now in manufacture of Lcd - monitors for protection of the thin film forming the image, special glass plates of the raised transparency are used. These plates cost dearly, many companies tried to find the decision which would allow to lower cost of the manufacture, however the first it to make it was possible Samsung.

At FPD International 2007 exhibition in Yokohama (Japan) the company has presented 19-inch panels with Soda-Lime, easier speaking - usual, a window pane, which basic components are dioxide of silicon, oxides of sodium and calcium. Thickness of such glass of only 0,5-0,7 mm, therefore on thickness of the ready Lcd - panel it will not affect. But the most important - is reduced the cost price.

As to characteristics of the sample submitted at the exhibition they are at a level of modern displays:
• brightness 300 cd/m2,
• contrast 1000:1,
• chromaticity on scale NTSC of 72 %.
